The Passage by Justin Cronin

Deadline reports that Fox has committed to a pilot for The Passage, a television series based on Justin Cronin’s fantasy trilogy. Ridley Scott’s production company, Scott Free, will be working with Fox, Friday Night Lights’ Liz Helden, and Felictiy co-creator Matt Reeves to adapt the book. Cronin will also be a co-producer.

Cronin’s trilogy takes place over about a century, and combines elements of a tense conspiracy thriller, a post-apocalyptic horror, and a vampire tale, while focusing on the young girl who is the last hope for humanity. The series began with The Passage in 2010, which was followed by The Twelve in 2012 and The City of Mirrors earlier this year. The first book was initially optioned for film back in 2007 while Cronin was still completing it, before producers decided the project would be better served by a television series.

We’ll keep you updated as the series develops, but in the meantime you can read more about the project over at Deadline!
